Leaving.

When I first arrived at Devnar I really struggled to settle in, it was so intimidating suddenly being faced with a school full of 500 blind children who didnt speak any language and who wanted to talk to me 24/7. Especially being so far away from my friends and family. But after a while I learned to make my own friends and family and when I had to leave Devnar on Thursday I cried pretty much the whole day. It was horrific having to say goodbye to all of the people who I have become so close to over my year, especially the small children who couldn't understand why Anna Mam was suddenly crying uncontrollably and squeezing them to death.

Here are some of my photos from my last week at the school.

I need to thank everyone at Devnar for making my year in India so special. It was so hard to leave all of you behind especially when so many of you had become my close friends. I'll be keeping in touch! Thank you for being so supportive, I have so many brilliant memories and would do it all again in a heartbeat,

I also have to thank my Project Trust partner Fidra. I honestly couldn't have done any of this without you; especially at the beginning. You've kept me smiling through children screaming, endless games of round and round the garden and across hundreds of miles on overcrowded sleeper trains. Thank you so much for keeping me sane!

And lastly thank you to everyone who has been following my adventures on this blog and to everyone at home for your endless support and encouragement. It has meant the world and I'm so grateful! I've definitely got the travelling bug and am already thinking about where I want to visit next, I'll be sure to let everyone know when that happens! Next I have to move out again and start university which I am very excited about! And after working with so many special children for a year my views on disability have completely changed, there is nothing the blind can't do and I am looking into working with disabled young people in the future.
