My week

I thought I should probably catch everyone up with what I've been doing before I set off on my holiday in two weeks time! I'll be travelling for two months from the 22nd of April until the 12th of June- I'll try and blog while I'm away but I can't guarantee how the wi-fi's gonna be, especially in some of the places I'm going to be staying! I promise I'll try my best to keep everyone updated!

Recently the weather here has been getting hotter and hotter as we move into Indian summer and we've also been having two regular power cuts a day so no fan! It's becoming really bad- consider that today the temperature here has been 40 degrees and I spend most of my day chasing small children! At the over end of the scale we've also had some pretty intense rain- which ended up with me and my partner Fidra getting caught outside in the first hail storm Hyderabad's seen for three years! It was so intense we decided to take shelter under a nearby shop until it stopped. BAD IDEA. The rain finally stopped after about an hour and then we turned to come back into our road we found it was completely flooded! We had to trek through knee deep black water to get back to school and watched in horror as a blind family tried to fight their way down the street. Not my most elegant moment.

Last weekend we decided to get out for a bit, brave the sun and took a trip out to Hyderabad zoo.

We had a lot of fun at the zoo and even got to ride on the toy train which as a massive child I really enjoyed!

The only thing was we had more people taking photos of us than the animals! Over the day we had nearly 30 people ask us for pictures! I've never felt like more of a novelty!

I also received a very exciting package from home this week! Easter chocolates and DVDs! The chocolate didn't travel very well but it still tastes pretty good! THANK YOU MUM AND DAD! (P.s Fidra says thank you for her bits as well!)

Mum also included photos of her visit to school in December that featured a particular child in my first class called Prakash. He was delighted with them! Over the moon! He wanted to make my family something to say thank you:

Anna Madam's Mummy, Daddy and William.
Thank you!
I am very happy

Also this week I went to a dance function in the city to celebrate the audio premiere of a new film called ABC- Always Be Careful. The film itself looked a bit naff to be honest but it gave the girls an opportunity to perform to a huge audience which must have been wonderful for them. There was one hairy moment when Palavi walked too far forward and fall forward off the stage but she carried on like a trooper!

The girls did really well and I'm so proud of them!

So this weekend I'm getting a sleeper bus to Ongole to visit two other volunteers Rosa and Clara which I am so excited about! I'll let you know all about it before I go away on my holiday!
