On training I remember Project Trust telling me that I'd get a visit from my Desk Officer in February to see the school and see that everything was okay. I was told Tom was going to arrive with my Indian representative at 9.40 in time for assembly and was very nervous. I don't know why; it's not like this was an exam, I just needed to do exactly what I do every day. I stood at assembly slowly getting more and more nervous but they didn't arrive. By 11 I was pretty het up and waiting in the staffroom when I heard a voice from the office that definitely didn't sound Indian. I went to the staffroom and met Tom and immediately felt better, he's great; really friendly and easy to talk to. We had a meeting with the school founder Dr. Goud, his wife Mrs. Goud and the school headteacher Lily Madam and then Tom came to see me teach my first class. It went really well! I had the children draw around their hands and feet the previous lesson and this lesson they sat and colored them in for me while I took two children to one side, one at a time and and revised their parts of the body with them. The class was on task and focused and quiet and I now have a lovely set of the children's drawings to stick on the classroom wall. I'll appreciate the color even if they cant and it was nice to do something active.
He also came to see LKG who were less well behaved but cute enough to make up for it! It was so nice to see him and to talk about everything at home; mostly the rain! He also left us MINI EGGS!!! Which are making me very happy as I'm writing this!
I can't believe it's been six months since I was hearing about my Desk Officer visit on Coll! I remember thinking that that day was ages away but now it's been and gone and it's hit me that six months in India are almost up. There's so much more I want to achieve while I'm here but talking to Tom has also made me appreciate that I have achieved a lot just by being here and teaching. SIX MONTHS AND I'M HOME! See you soon!!!
